Alamorio

Little Alamorio, taking its name from the Alamo River just to the west, was established around 1909 as a trading center. The small community had a blacksmith shop operated by Herschel Glover, a Methodist Episcopal Church organized by Mr. Ben Dyer Irvine, and a creamery which opened in 1911. An outdoor plunge was also built at some point, taking advantage of the artesian wells that were a rarity in Imperial Valley. The town doesn't seem to have lasted long, and the only historic remnant that I could locate is a church (presumably the old M.E. Church) that has been converted to a private residence.
